INEOS TEAM UK claim their fifth race win of the regatta
Day three in Palma heated up both on and off the water, as the fleet fired on all cylinders in temperatures reaching 36°c on the Bay of Palma.
A cloudy and hazy start to the day - along with a light breeze - brought a delay to racing before the wind picked up to 9-10 knots and three competitive races followed. The breeze dropped for the final two races of the day and a change to the course quickly followed, with the teams ending the day having competing in 15 races across the three days of the regatta.
Despite the intense heat, with each INEOS TEAM UK sailor staying hydrated by drinking up to eight litres of water - the team didn’t drop below a podium finish all day and claimed their fifth race win of the regatta alongside three thirds and a second (3, 3, 1, 2 & 3).

Tactician, Giles Scott commented; “The day started off well, but we’ve come off the water feeling a little bit frustrated after giving away points in the last few races. However, it was a little bit different today with light winds and as a new crew combination we had to find our feet in these conditions.
“The sea breeze was flaky and shut down to around 7knts in the last race so to come out of the day with our lead extended is a real positive.
